This day is recognized by the United Nations (UN) in commemoration of the woman's fight for their rights and participation in the society, for Gender Equality, and in their integrity development as person.

The idea of the International Women's Day dates from the end of the 19th century, during the industrial revolution and the peak of the labour movement; however, it was not until the first years of the 20th century when it began to proclaim, from different leftist international organizations, the celebration of a specific day for the woman's rights.
